Our Manna Ministry will be assisting individuals and families at Rippling River and Cachagua with hams this Christmas. If you are able to help out with a ham from the grocery frozen food department, or a canned ham, it would be greatly appreciated. We need the hams by this Thursday, December 14. The Manna Christmas delivery will take place on Saturday, December 16. Thank you for your support.
The cold weather during these winter months and the needs of the homeless and others here in Carmel Valley has been a concern of our Parish Pastoral Council.
We would like to expand our Social Outreach Ministry to include a possible once-a-month or so hot meal in the Parish Hall. This, of course, would require a team of parishioners willing to serve in this new ministry. Please contact Fr Dennis as soon as possible if you are available. Your service would be deeply appreciated. Thank you.
We are invited next Sunday, December 17, at 4 pm, to a special pre-Christmas event… beautiful music, surprises, and a champagne reception following. All free. Lighthouse Avenue and 9th, Pacific Grove.
A special Mass of Thanksgiving to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the establishment of our Diocese will take place this Thursday, December 14, at 11:00 am, at Madonna del Sasso Pro Cathedral in Salinas. If you plan to attend, please let Fr Dennis know so that you can officially represent Our Lady of Mount Carmel. Special seating will be available for Parish representatives. Thank you.
Please join us in prayer with our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament on Wednesday, December 20. The exposition of the Blessed Sacrament offers us a very special occasion for prayerful reflection and meditation before Christmas. It will take place following the 7:00 am morning Mass until 7:00 pm when we will conclude with a final prayer and blessing. A sign up list to offer an hour in prayer with the Lord is available at the entrance of the Church. We remember the words of Jesus to Peter in Gethsemane: “So you could not keep watch with me for one hour?” The Sacrament of Reconciliation (Confession) will also be available on Wednesday, Dec. 20, from 5:15 to 6:45 pm.
Our Christmas Mass schedule this year includes Christmas Eve Masses on Sunday, December 24, at 4:30 pm and 7:00 pm (bilingual), and Christmas Day Masses on Monday, December 25, at 9:00 am and 11:15 am.
Please mark your calendars now and plan ahead to join us for a special potluck lunch to celebrate the Christmas Solemnity of the Epiphany of the Lord on Sunday, January 7 at 12:30 pm, following the 11:15 am Mass.
As we begin a new church year, we thank you once more for your support of your parish. Here are a couple of ideas that make the processing of your donations easier:
If you donate by check, please write your donation number on it. If you don’t know it, just contact the office and we’ll get it to you.
Or as an alternative, Electronic Fund Transfers (EFTs) are possible. Follow the “Donate” tab on the church website. You can set up recurring contributions, and even use a credit card.
Children, youth and young adults are invited to serve as Altar Servers or Acolytes for our Saturday and Sunday Masses. We have a special need at our Saturday, 4:30 pm Mass and the Sunday, 11:15 am Mass. Please leave a message in the parish office for Father Dennis if you would like to serve. Thank you. Your service would be greatly appreciated!
There will be a second collection this weekend for the Retirement Fund for Religious. Next weekend, there will be a second collection for Hope’s Pantry / Social Outreach.
